PACKING LIGHT
About
Yes packing light is a wonderful thing. If you have ever taken a long trip that has many events planned it’s hard to decide what to pack. For this outfit I need this shoe or bra or earrings. But then you realize, I can only wear that outfit once and I will definitely not wear those shoes anywhere else because they hurt! And I am afraid to pack those earrings because they are valuable.
It’s time to make choices. You must think about the overall trip and what you will need the most. Maybe you are going to differing climates, some will require warm weather clothing and others a jacket, where sandals just won’t do. You take stock, and make a list of the things you will use the most and the items that are easiest to pack or clean and won’t wrinkle. You imagine wearing the same shoes all day while sightseeing so you pack your most comfortable pair that still look cute. Maybe you even decide you will leave some things behind for a charity to make room to buy a few new things that catch your eye.
This my friends, is how you should pack your life. First, take stock of what you have in your inner suitcase. Do you have small (or large) grievances packed away? Do you have resentments and anger at the bottom of the bag? Maybe you have toxic people or jobs in the suitcase. Or maybe you have childhood memories you are dragging along. These things are heavy and take up too much room in your life suitcase. They leave no room for love and joy and hope. There is a saying “hope floats” which means hope keeps us afloat in time of trouble, and this is because it is light and buoyant. As is love and joy and beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so it needs no suitcase to bring it along. Love is expansive and makes room rather than anger and resentment which are heavy and bulky. Bringing light into your life is not about adding to your life, it is about making room in your life. The light of love can only get in when you make room, when you make space, WHEN YOU PACK LIGHT. Just like on your trip, you can leave ideas or old patterns behind and open space for new ones that create joy. How can you make room in your life suitcase today?
Ask me! I have moved and changed my life so many times that I would love to share all that I have learned. From the smallest questions (who should I choose to move my things?) to the big ones (is this move the right thing for my life?). I would love to talk it through with you or maybe read some of my posts to see if I have already discussed the universal problems we often share. I would love to hear from you :)
