How Do You Know if It Is Time to Move?

Life has gotten in the way for me lately. As you might have noticed in the news real estate was busy in 2022 and my work was no exception. It was challenging but rewarding to use my expertise to help so many others navigate through this difficult market. It is not easy to secure a house when there are 20 other offers on the table. But that is a topic for another post.

I have also been feeling that it might be time to move again. This has been difficult because I have said and felt that this was my forever home. There were outside factors that played into this decision for me. First hurricane Ian was turning for a direct hit to Sarasota where I live. It was a tense time as we watched the hurricane turn just enough south to spare us, but it was a close call. Then there was the debacle with the airlines during the holidays. It made travel and seeing family very difficult. I realized I wanted to move somewhere within driving distance to my family and friends.

But the most important part was while I managed to create a beautiful home for us, we felt lonely without our tribe. Maybe I didn't notice so much during the pandemic which was going on the bulk of the time we have lived here. Everyone was in the same boat and we had many a zoom gatherings with friends far and wide plus we felt lucky that we could go walk the beach or have a socially distanced cocktail hour in our cul de sac with neighbors. Now that things are back to normal the distance from our friends and family looms large.

Of course if we could afford to own two homes we might but that is not in the cards for us so the adventure to find a new place to live has begun. I will continue more on this topic in the weeks ahead. My goal is to share my process here with you in the hopes that this will help any of you struggling with the same types of questions as I am. I will try to be as transparent as possible and hopefully at the end of this we will have figured it out.
